In 2005, filmmaker Pamela Nice interviewed over 60 young Moroccans, from different backgrounds and parts of the country, about their dreams in life. The film focuses on 7 of the dreams she heard most often, from becoming a singing star, to earning a Ph.D., to just surviving another day. Interviews are spliced with scenes from the daily lives of these young people, who live in big coastal cities as well as smaller inland towns. Some of these young people are committed to developing their country and educating the children of their own neighborhoods. Others risk their lives to escape Morocco and its economic depression. Whatever their dreams, you will not forget them easily.

“A Drop in the Bucket” is an eight minute documentary about teens helping teens. We are two teens from Boulder, Colorado who worked most summers for various community service organizations only to find that we were unable to see the results of our efforts. We felt we had no direct impact and knew we were capable of more than bagging apples and breaking down boxes for the local charities. Though our resources were limited, we wanted to make a difference and show other teens that you don’t have to be Angelina Jolie or Bono in order to impact the lives of others. Accordingly, we formed our own non-profit called CEO 4 Teens (Creating Educational Opportunities for Teens).
In June of 2007, we went to Ubud, Indonesia and created three programs with a local college to educate teens: Eligible teens can apply for a full scholarship; a student loan; and after successfully graduating they are able to apply for a microfinance loan to help start their own business. Our goal was to set up a program that will be ongoing for years to come. We interviewed many families and selected ten teens to be our first class to receive a full scholarship to the local college. From start to finish we were able to see the money we raised go directly into the hands of those in need. This has clearly been a life changing project for us as well as the teens we are sponsoring. -Brooks Dyroff
